About Animal Public Record
A publication built on documents
Animal Public Record reads the paperwork behind animal stories. We cover public animal programs, policy decisions, wildlife management and corrections to published research. We also cover product records, such as purchase and billing questions readers run into. On that side, the work can mean reading a refund policy line by line or setting a receipt beside the posted price.
Dale Whitmore at the records desk
Dale Whitmore is the records editor. Dale chooses what we cover, edits each piece and reopens older entries when an error comes to light. Every byline here is a pen name. Our writers work from the homes, dogs and daily routines they actually live with. That is why a leash ordinance or a subscription charge gets treated as something that lands in a real household.
Images on the record
Pictures on the site are licensed stock photography or labeled editorial illustrations, and none of them show a writer’s home. A photo of a shelter building or a product box doesn’t establish that we visited that place or tested that product. When a visit or a test did happen, the article states it plainly.
